A Look Back: Brighter Shores Leaderboards Then and Now

Earlier today, the Brighter Shores team rolled out a significant update that introduced much-anticipated changes to the leaderboard system. For the first time, all players are automatically ranked without needing to opt-in. This means every player now has access to their true rank in the game.

In a nod to privacy concerns, the update includes an option for players to appear on the leaderboards as "Anonymous Player." Those who choose this option will still be ranked but won't display their username publicly. Additionally, anonymous players will not have their total level shown to nearby players and will lose access to view the leaderboards themselves.

These adjustments aim to create a more inclusive and transparent ranking system while respecting the privacy preferences of players across different regions.

For fun, I started taking screenshots of the leaderboards early on as a way to catalog the history of the game. With today's update introducing true ranks, I thought now would be the perfect time to share them. It's a chance to compare the "fake" ranks from before to the current true rankings. Of course, many players have progressed far beyond where they were back then, and some have even quit (or been banned). It's a fun trip down nostalgia lane and a unique way to look back at how things have changed.
