In Brighter Shores, leveling up goes beyond simply increasing skill stats; it actually impacts the type of resources you can gather. Unlike many games where skill progression just improves efficiency or speed, leveling up in Brighter Shores can alter which resources you collect, potentially changing your gameplay approach as you progress.
When you advance in a skill, like Fisherman, each new level unlocks upgraded actions that can replace the older ones. For example, at level 6 in Fisherman, you might find that your catch changes from a Mottled Flounder to an Olive Flounder. The Olive Flounder offers more experience points and a higher sale value, helping you progress faster and earn more gold.
But what if you want to collect the original, lower-level resources instead of the upgraded ones? Brighter Shores has a solution. Once you've unlocked an upgraded action, a “Past Actions” option becomes available in your action list. Selecting "Past Actions" lets you access previous resource options for that node, allowing you to specifically target whichever resource you prefer—whether it's for quests, crafting, or personal goals.
This flexible system encourages exploration and customization, making resource gathering more strategic. By balancing resource options, players can tailor their inventory to suit their needs, whether that means earning quick cash or stockpiling specific materials.
